Appalachian Trail - Big Hump

Carver's Gap
Roan Mountain, TN

Big Hump, along with Little Hump, make up what is more correctly known as Hump Mountain. Its peak is at 5587 ft. in elevation and the Appalachian Trail crosses it. Because it's a bald, it offers 360° views, but also provides very changeable and sometimes challenging weather. Find more information about Hump Mountain here. When Troop 224 backpacks on this section of the Appalachian Trail, we start at Carver's Gap, which is on the Tenn./N.C. state line.
