Haw Ridge is a 780-acre city-owned park that was given to the City of Oak Ridge in 1972 by the Tennessee Valley Authority. It is bounded on the south by Melton Hill Lake and on the north by Edgemoor Road. Haw Ridge Park is home of the Life Development Center. It also offers some of the best mountain biking trails in East Tennessee, many of which are very challenging. Directions:
Depending on which direction from Oak Ridge you are traveling, take Illinois Avenue and turn left onto Edgemoor Road or take or Melton Hill Lake Drive and turn right onto Edgemoor.
There are a couple of parking areas off Edgemoor. Most mountain bikers park in a lot that is west of the entrance to Park Meade and next to Solway Park.
To get to the Life Development Center, turn on Old Edgemoor Road (also known as Old Bethel Valley Road) opposite the entrance of Centennial Golf Course and look for an old white farm house on the right.
